Paul Morris advises global corporations on setting up new innovation-focused Corporate Venture Capital units. He also works with VC funds and young companies that seek closer interactions with corporates. Morris currently advises the UK government on increasing inward VC investment into high-growth potential UK companies.
Paul Morris is a CVC veteran. He set up the CVC business of Dow Chemical Europe in 1996 and ran it for 16 years. During this period he invested over $100M in 110 transactions in more than 50 different entities across all three main sectors—ICT, Life sciences, and Cleantech. This comprised both direct investments and LP positions in VC funds. He has participated in over 300 board meetings of portfolio companies, including Plastic Logic. Morris has spoken on CVC at international conferences and on CNBC television, and has had articles on CVC published.
During a 28-year career with Dow Morris held a wide range of senior commercial management, people management and business development roles. He has captained rugby and cricket sides at school, college and club levels and is a qualified ski instructor. He speaks German, and speaks French fluently. Morris holds an Honours degree in Textiles, French and Marketing from the University of Huddersfield.
